Shoppers say fire alarms were sounding off and everyone was ushered from the mall.
“We were shopping and then all of a sudden the fire alarm went off and we’re like, ‘Okay, what do we do,’” said Laura Bolding. “No one was telling us what to do.”
Bolding never saw smoke or flames, but says she did just leave the food court minutes before the fire alarms started.
“We saw a whole bunch more fire trucks coming and men suiting up in suits. We saw a fire hose actually in the mall,” Bolding told KPRC 2. “I saw the guys on the ladder going up to the roof. And that was like, ‘Okay, well, we’re done. We’re gonna leave.’"
The fire was put out around 3:40 p.m. and the mall was reopened. However, Door 2, the food court and some businesses in that area remain closed.
