MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – Reports of an active shooter at the Walmart on Highway 242 and College Park earlier this evening prompted a response from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and K9 units conducted a thorough search of the premises and investigated the situation. Authorities confirmed that no shots were fired during the incident.

“The Walmart located at SH 242 and IH-45 has been cleared and is now back open,” Sheriff Wesley Doolittle wrote on Facebook. “There was a disturbance at the location; however, no shots were fired. Law enforcement responded promptly, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.”

The sheriff’s office said the situation originated from a verbal altercation between two males at the location. It could not be confirmed that a firearm was ever displayed.

The building has been cleared, and the Walmart is safe. Both individuals involved have left the area, and there is no threat to the public.
