The Houston Police Officers’ Union posted a tribute message to former KPRC 2 News reporter Jake Reiner after the passing of his parents.

The HPOU released the following statement:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Jake Reiner and his family during this incredibly difficult time.
During his years as a Houston news anchor (KPRC2), Jake was a true friend to the men and women of the Houston Police Department. He treated our officers with fairness, professionalism, and respect, and he consistently gave law enforcement a voice when it mattered.
We are grateful for the way he supported this profession and this city, and we stand with him and his family now."
Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, 68-year-old Michele Singer, were found dead in his Brentwood home after being fatally stabbed. The couple’s middle son, Nick Reiner, has been arrested in connection with the crimes.

Rob Reiner was an acclaimed film director and actor. He directed multiple iconic films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including “The Princess Bride,” “Stand By Me,” and “When Harry Met Sally...”
Jake Reiner worked as a news reporter for KPRC 2 News from January 2016 until August 2018. After his time at KPRC 2, he worked for KCBS in Los Angeles before transitioning to self-employed acting full-time in 2023.
The investigation into the deaths of Rob and Michele is ongoing.
