Classmates describe warning signs of teen accused of plotting mass shooting at Pasadena Memorial HS

PASADENA, Texas – KPRC 2 is learning more about one of the teenagers arrested at Pasadena Memorial High School accused of plotting a mass shooting on campus, 18-year-old Emilio Lopez.

According to classmates of Lopez who spoke to KPRC 2, several people reported his behavioral issues to the school.

One friend said she noticed his problems and reported him to a teacher before Thanksgiving break.

Another classmate described Lopez as ‘quiet’ and constantly wearing headphones in class.

According to court documents, investigators were made aware of the plot when a student told her parent she was scared after she got a screenshot of what Lopez and a juvenile student were sending each other.

Some of the text messages from court documents include:

“No like deada*** let’s do this at this point, I got 2 shot guns and plenty of ammo”

“Just let me know I got everything from slugs to birdshot.”

Lopez has previously been arrested in 2023 for a family assault violence case.

KPRC 2 has also obtained the voicemail sent to parents over Thanksgiving break which notified them of the two teens’ arrests.

“Pasadena ISD Police arrested two students this morning for allegedly planning acts of violence,” principal Mike Adams said in the message. “Please note that our priority is creating a safe and supportive learning environment for our students.”

Lopez posted a $100,000 bond and part of his bond condition is that he must stay 1000 feet away from Pasadena Memorial High School.

His next court date is January 7.
