Authorities say the suspect had been pulled over in a traffic stop and pulled into the park. He then allegedly got out of his truck.
A confrontation took place between the man and the deputy, at which point the deputy fired three shots, one of which struck the man in the hand.
Authorities say the man then jumped back into his truck and fled deeper into the park. He then exited the truck and started running away on foot. He was quickly apprehended and taken to a hospital. The deputy was also transported to a hospital as a precaution.
The suspect is identified as 34-year-old John Laredo. He has several prior assault charges against him.
