HISD settles lawsuit with Bellaire HS parents who sued over students’ preferred pronoun use

The Houston Independent School District has settled a lawsuit that was filed by two parents who accused Bellaire High School and the district of violating their constitutional rights by referring to their daughter as a boy at school without their knowledge or consent.

The lawsuit, which was filed earlier this year by Alliance Defending Freedom, accused HISD of violating the parents’ constitutional rights by supporting what they describe as the “social transitioning” of their child, referred to in court records as Jane Doe.


Why it could take crews several days to clean molten sulfur spill on SH-35 in Brazoria County

A major traffic slowdown is hitting commuters in Brazoria County after an overturned 18-wheeler spilled molten sulfur along State Highway 35 near Bar X Trail.

The crash happened early Monday morning just west of Angleton. TxDOT says the northbound lanes of SH-35 will remain closed for at least 24 hours as crews work through a complicated and hazardous cleanup.

The 18-wheeler flipped onto its side around 1 a.m. Monday. The driver walked away, officials said and no other vehicles were involved, according to officials.

Woman stabbed to death during argument with man in street in northeast Houston

A woman is dead, and her alleged killer is on the run after investigators say an argument between the two led to a deadly stabbing.

Houston police responded to reports of a stabbing on Lyons Avenue and Kress Street around 11:15 p.m. Monday.
