WANTED: Search underway for ‘Cowboy,’ sexual assault suspect tied to FM 1960 nightclubs

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – HCSO detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying a nightclub regular known as “Cowboy,” accused of assaulting women he meets in the FM 1960 area.

According to investigators with the Adult Sex Crimes Unit, the man is a regular at several nightclubs along FM 1960 in north Harris County, including the Chayn’s Nightclub in the 3900 block of FM 1960.

Club employees also know him only by the nickname “Cowboy.”

The owners of Chayn’s tell KPRC 2 no incident happened at the nightclub. They’ve been cooperating with authorities ever since detectives contacted them a year ago after the owners say a woman was seen leaving Chayn’s with the unknown, so-called Cowboy.

Detectives say the suspect is described as a man in his 50s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He has told others he may be a retired HCSO deputy, though investigators say that claim is unconfirmed.

According to HCSO, the man approaches women in nightclubs, gains their trust, and then takes them to a hotel, where the assaults occur. Detectives believe there could be additional victims who have not yet come forward.

Keith Hendrix is head of security at Da Town Bar and Grill and is keeping an eye out for the suspect.

“We actually have it right here, as soon as people walk in, they can see the face,” Hendrix said.

Hendrix is making sure customers know about the suspect and that if he is seen, he is not welcome at the bar.

“When they come in, I just let the ladies know that we have this guy that’s sexually assaulting ladies, be careful and if you need me to escort you to your car or from your car, let me know,” Hendrix said.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is urged to contact the Adult Sex Crimes Office at 713-274-9174 or email AdultSexCrimesUnit@sheriff.hctx.net.
