HOUSTON – Four people have been detained after gunshots were fired at a METRO transit center near NRG Park Tuesday evening.
METRO Police says it happened at the Fannin South Transit Center located at 8701 Fannin Street.
METRO PD says a Harris County sheriff’s deputy who was assigned to METRO’s rail safety initiative heard the gunshots coming from the transit center and responded.
Authorities say the shooting stemmed from an altercation between two groups, one consisting of two men, the other group consisting of a man and a woman. The shooting happened near the platform area.
The deputy pursued and detained one suspect after the shooting. METRO PD officers at the scene were able to detain a second suspect while officers from the Houston Police Department were able to apprehend the remaining two suspects.
Two weapons were recovered at the scene and no injuries were reported.
The investigation remains ongoing.
