EF-2 tornado in Spring scares puppy into running away but these Texans helped bring her home

SPRING, Texas – When an EF-2 tornado tore through Spring on Tuesday, it didn’t just splinter trees and damage homes, but also caused chaos and panic.

That’s for us humans, so imagine what the family pets were thinking.

For a little pup named Mocha, she tried running from the scary and howling wind.

“She was scared at first, tail tucked between her legs and everything,” said Anthony Bolden, who lives in the Colony Creek neighborhood of Spring and helped rescue the frightened dog.

Mocha proved to be quite elusive at first, dodging both cars and raindrops as neighbors tried to help.

“She’s a fast one. She won’t let us catch her. Nothing. She is all over the place,” Bolden said.

The breakthrough came when Bolden and several neighbors managed to coax Mocha to safety using treats.

In true Texas fashion, Bolden opened his home to Mocha, providing her shelter for the night after he found out her owners were out of state and she escaped her caretaker.

On Tuesday morning, Mocha’s family was able to coordinate with their nephew, coincidentally also named Anthony, to get Mocha.

Both Anthonys, Bolden and Beard (the owner’s nephew), saw something special in how this whole situation transpired.

“I think God’s involved. Oh yeah,” said Beard.

Bolden agreed, adding, “Trust me, because everything could have been a lot worse than what it was.”

During a week all about thanks, both Anthony’s shared their gratefulness to be a part of bringing Mocha home.

“I know Mocha. I’m gonna miss you too,” Bolden said.
