Child in serious condition after accidental shooting in New Waverly

NEW WAVERLY, Texas – The Walker County Sheriff’s Office said a child was flown to a Houston hospital after an accidental shooting in New Waverly.

The incident happened at 11:16 a.m. Friday morning at a home in the 1000 block of Gibbs Street in New Waverly.

First responders got to the home in under a minute after the call came in and provided life-saving measures. The child was transported by Walker County EMS to Conroe Regional Hospital and later airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. The child is said to be in serious condition.

"The Walker County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, with assistance from the Texas Rangers, is currently investigating the incident. The scene remains active and no additional information will be released at this time‚" the sheriff’s office said.
