HOUSTON – What is more bananas than letting fans decide who stays on the roster in the Banana Ball Championship League?

The game of Banana Ball launched in 2016 and has since grown into one of the most in-demand sporting events in the United States.

Never heard of Banana Ball? Here is a quick breakdown.

Banana Ball (noun): A fast-paced, entertainment-focused version of baseball created by the Savannah Bananas that emphasizes speed, fan involvement and nonstop action. The game uses unique rules, including no bunting, no walks, a two-hour time limit, fans catching foul balls for outs and “Showdowns” to break ties. The rules are designed to eliminate downtime, increase scoring pressure and blend competition with performance. The format prioritizes fan interaction, showmanship and a party-like atmosphere while maintaining core baseball fundamentals.

The sport started with only the Savannah Bananas but expanded to four teams this summer, including the Texas Tailgaters.

Now, two more teams are joining the league, and they need players. A draft is underway to fill those roster spots.

Here is the twist: Fans can vote to keep up to three players on their current teams.

For Houston and for Texas, that means you can vote to keep hometown player Tre Jones with the Texas Tailgaters.

Jones, a Jersey Village native, made his professional debut at Daikin Park earlier this fall.

His talent on the field and his musical ability earned him a spot with the Tailgaters for their inaugural 2025 season.

Fans who want to help keep him in Texas can cast a vote in the Player Draft.
