The United Cajun Navy is gearing up to provide support and relief to the island nation of Jamaica as Major Hurricane Melissa impacts the country.
The organization says it has an advance team on the island to support the nation. They are hunkering down as the storm closes in.
Hurricane Melissa is an extremely powerful category 5 storm. It currently has maximum sustained winds of 175 mph as of Monday afternoon.
The storm is expected to bring those devastating winds as well as storm surge of up to 13 feet and rainfall of up to 40 inches.
The United Cajun Navy is asking for help filling trucks and boats with supplies.
