Woman dies after fire at senior living facility in Northwest Houston

HOUSTON – An elderly woman died from smoke inhalation after a fire at a senior living facility in Northwest Houston.

It started at the West Janisch Health Care Center on Janisch near North Shepherd at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

There was no word on if the woman was rescued before she died.

The building was evacuated, but residents were later allowed back inside.

It was unclear how many people lived at the facility.

Arson investigators were working to determine what caused the fire.
