‘My family is still suffering’: Family of 19-year-old father who was shot and killed pleading for answers

HOUSTON – The family of 19‑year‑old Jaylon Fox is pleading with the community for answers after he was shot and killed in broad daylight on Easter back on April 20.

“I really need everybody to pitch in and help this family,” said Fox’s grandmother.

Fox who was a son, grandson, active church member and father to a two‑month‑old — was found unresponsive near 3102 Rosalie Street around 3:35 p.m. Paramedics treated him, and he was later pronounced dead, officials say.

“He didn’t have to lose his life like that,” Jaylon’s grandmother said. “He left behind a two‑month‑old son. He was only 19 — he didn’t deserve to leave this world.”

At a Wednesday press conference, the family criticized the pace of the investigation and expressed frustration with communication from detectives. “It’s only been five months, and it doesn’t seem like anyone cares,” a relative said. “Every time we call, we’re told different things.”

With tears in her eyes and a voice filled with emotion, Jaylon’s mother appealed directly to neighbors asking for tips that could give her family closure and bring her son justice.

“If this had been any of y’all’s kids and you saw something, say something,” she said. “Call the 222‑TIPS hotline — you don’t have to give your name. Just tell them something that will lead to capturing the person who killed my child. I don’t know if I’m safe. When is this going to stop?”

Houston police have released photos of persons of interest and are asking anyone with information to contact them at 713-222-TIPS.
