Man shot in hand while sitting in driveway outside NE Houston home

A man was taken to the hospital after being shot in the hand during a drive-by style shooting outside his northeast Houston home late Thursday.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 8200 block of Darlington. According to HPD, a couple was sitting in their vehicle in the driveway when another car pulled up and opened fire. One of the bullets struck the husband in the hand.

His wife began driving him toward a hospital but flagged down officers nearby. Police provided first aid until medics arrived. The man was taken to a nearby trauma center and is expected to survive.

Two children were inside the home at the time. They came outside after the gunfire and were later taken to a safe location by a family member.

Investigators are working to determine a motive and identify the shooter.
