HISD Superintendent Mike Miles earns $173K bonus after annual 2024-25 evaluation

Houston ISD Superintendent Mike Miles will receive more than $173,000 in incentive pay for the 2024-25 school year after scoring 91% on HISD’s annual evaluation.

The incentive is separate from his base salary and tied to performance goals in his contract.

According to the district, Miles scored 55 out of 60 points on the Superintendent’s Evaluation Rubric, based on seven goals and constraints, and 36 out of 40 points on the Superintendent Leadership Rubric, a self-assessment tool.

Combined, the results gave him 91.4% of the maximum possible points, translating into nearly all of the $190,000 available in incentive pay.

District leaders said the pay structure mirrors performance incentives offered to HISD teachers and principals, designed to evaluate and reward results at every level.

HISD Superintendent Mike Miles has pledged that all district campuses will be rated A or B by 2027, aiming to ensure every student has access to high-quality education. The district currently has zero F-rated schools, and Miles highlighted gains in reading and math performance across the district.

Earlier this month, he emphasized that geography and poverty no longer determine student outcomes and that community partners, teachers, and staff will continue working to close achievement gaps.
