Community supports Deer Park police officer injured in major accident while driving to work

The Deer Park community is rallying behind a local police officer who was involved in a major car accident while driving to work.

On Thursday, Deer Park Police Department officer Brooke Schwausch was in the car wreck.

According to a Facebook post by the Baytown Municipal Police Association, she suffered broken bones “from head to toe” and will require “countless stitches.”

She will also require several surgeries throughout her recovery. Schwausch’s husband, who is an officer in Baytown, will be missing work as his wife recovers.

So far, a GoFundMe posted by Schwausch’s brother has raised nearly $9,000 towards her medical bills.
