Police said Zuniga-Garcia was arguing with his girlfriend in a parking lot on Bissonnet Street and Fondren Road at about 10 p.m. Saturday and had walked away.

A dark-colored Ford SUV drove up, and someone got out and shot the victim, investigators said.

Zuniga-Garcia’s girlfriend tried to help him, but he died at the scene.

Investigators said the shooting appears unrelated to the argument.

“It appears that it’s unrelated, they did not know each other, they did not engage in conversation or anything like that,” said Lt. A. Khan.

Zuniga-Garcia’s girlfriend was not injured in the shooting.

At this time, there are no known suspect(s) or motive.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
