Woman carrying skull leads police to human remains in north Houston

TEXAS – An investigation is underway after human skeletal remains were found in north Houston this past weekend.

On Saturday, Aug. 23, Houston police responded to reports of a human skull sitting on the ground in the 814 block of McIntosh Street around 9 a.m.

Officers said when they arrived, they found the skull sitting on top of some items that had been put out for trash.

A witness then told officers that a homeless woman had been walking around with the skull and had left it on top of the trash. Officers said they found the homeless woman, who then showed officers where the additional human remains were located.

An anthropologist from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences responded to the scene and collected what is believed to be human remains.

The investigation is pending results from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
