HUMBLE, Texas – A 13-year-old has been charged with manslaughter in the deadly shooting of his 14-year-old brother in Humble, authorities said.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared on X that deputies were called on July 4 to a home in the 3100 block of Gianna Springs Court, where they found a 14-year-old dead from a gunshot wound. A rifle was recovered at the scene.
The teen’s 17-year-old sister and the 13-year-old brother were at the home when the shooting happened.
Detectives believe the younger brother was handling the rifle when it went off, striking the 14-year-old.
The 13-year-old was taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center.
No further details about the case have been released.
