Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said it happened in the 10700 block of Wolsley Ct.

Authorities say it started just after 6 p.m. Wednesday when deputies received the call of the disturbance.

Gonzalez said three deputies arrived at the home and met a woman who told them her 66-year-old husband was intoxicated and had thrown her out of the house.

After they made sure the woman was ok, the started to enter the home to speak to the man. Gonzalez said the front door was opened when the deputies walked in.

Gonzalez said as the deputies approached the man, he immediately started firing gunshots at the deputies. The deputies returned fire, striking the man.

The man was taken to a hospital by helicopter in critical condition. One of the three deputies received a laceration to his forehead. Gonzalez said they don’t believe it is from a bullet, but it could possibly be a graze wound. They are still trying to determine that.

The deputy will be ok and recover, according to Gonzalez. He may have to have stitches though.

Gonzalez said three of the deputies involved have been with the sheriff’s office for about a year and a half. The third deputy has been with the sheriff’s office for 11 years.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office along with HCSO’s Homicide Division are investigating.
