Woman shot near METRO bus stop in NRG Park area; suspected shooter turns self in claiming self defense

A woman was shot near a Houston METRO bus stop in the NRG Park area.

The shooting happened at around 8 a.m. Monday on Westridge Street.

The suspected shooter is described as a man wearing a pink shirt and basketball shorts, riding an aqua blue bicycle. The victim, a woman, sustained a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After the shooting, the man fled eastbound on Westridge but later turned himself in.

As of 12:30 p.m., the METRO Police Department confirmed the suspect is in custody and claims self-defense.

MPD is actively investigating the incident.
