Parts of Houston are going to experience just scorching weather, while others will see another round of thunderstorms.
The heavy rain is expected to pick up throughout the afternoon and into the evening, with the most active period forecast between 3 and 5 p.m.

Areas along and south of the I-10 corridor—including neighborhoods from El Campo to Liberty—could see stronger downpours and occasional thunder. By later Sunday evening, around 8 to 9 p.m., storms are likely to wind down.
This active pattern doesn’t look to break anytime soon. The same cycle of afternoon and evening thunderstorms is forecast to repeat for Houston on Monday, keeping things unsettled into the start of the week.

Don’t expect things to cool down, even with the rain. Early Monday morning temperatures are running in the mid-70s to low 80s, and it’s forecast to feel even hotter by the afternoon. Brittany Begley notes that, by late day, humidity could push the heat index up to 100 or even 102 degrees.
We’re also expecting a 20 percent chance of storms on Tuesday and Wednesday, before higher thunderstorm chances return toward the end of the week. The pattern of hot, humid days with afternoon storm chances is expected to stick around
