LIVINGSTON, Texas – A 31-year-old man from the small Polk County town of Goodrich was arrested, accused of trying to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex.
Livingston Police say they were conducting an investigation after being made aware of a man who was attempting to find underage girls to meet up for sex.
Through the investigation, they were led to Matthews Park in Livingston where they found Randy Newman. Police say Newman had driven to the park with the intention of meeting the teenage girl.
Newman was taken to the Polk County Jail and charged with online solicitation of a minor.
“This is a sad reminder of the evil that is constantly reaching out to our children from behind a keyboard. Thankfully, this time, we were able to intervene before the worst could happen,” said Interim Lieutenant Jack Mueller with the Livingston Police Department.
