The Houston Astros have dealt one of their former top draft picks to the Tampa Bay Rays for cash considerations.
The move to trade Forrest Whitley was announced by the team Friday afternoon.
The 27-year-old right-handed pitcher made five appearances for the Astros this season, recording eight strikeouts and allowing nine hits and six walks with a 12.27 ERA.
After being drafted with the 17th overall pick of the first round in the 2016 MLB Draft, Whitley didn’t make his major league debut until 2024.
