‘He served proudly’: Houston Police mounted patrol horse dies following surgical procedure

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department says one of its mounted patrol horses has died following a surgical procedure.
Xanthos, an 11-year-old Percheron, died Thursday from complications following a surgical procedure.
HPD says Xanthos served proudly with the department in the Mounted Patrol Unit.
Xanthos had been with HPD since 2022, partnered with Officer J. Pena.
