According to Entergy’s power outage map - 12,217 people were without power as of 1:50 p.m.
CenterPoint Energy released an update Tuesday morning on overnight storm damage and ongoing power restoration efforts across the Houston area.
“Overnight and into this morning, slow-moving storms with strong wind (gusts up to 60 – 70 mph in some locations), lightning and downed trees caused approximately 167,000 power outages across the Greater Houston area. 94% of our customers did not have any power interruptions. As of noon today, CenterPoint Energy crews have restored more than 130,000 (80%) impacted customers with just over 30,000 customers remaining without power. We expect to be substantially complete with restoration by the end of today.
We know how important it is to have reliable electric service. Our enhanced workforce has been deployed across the system since midnight last night, with extra crews working to safely repair equipment and restore power to the remaining customers without power as quickly as possible.
