Woman hospitalized after being shot in leg by stray bullet while inside W Houston home

A woman has been hospitalized after she was shot in the leg by a stray bullet while she sat on the couch in her home.

The shooting happened just after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. It took place in the 2500 block of Tanglewilde Street in west Houston.

According to Houston Police Department, the woman was sitting on the couch in her home when she heard a gunshot outside. The bullet that she heard struck her leg.

HPD officers quickly applied a tourniquet, and she was transported to a nearby hospital.
