A man was taken into custody Wednesday morning after he shot his cousin and initiated a police standoff in a west Houston apartment.
The shooting was reported at around 9:35 a.m. at the apartment complex located at 8400 Sands Point Drive on the west side of town.
According to Houston Police Department sources, the situation started as a family disturbance but soon escalated. The man at the center of the standoff shot his cousin in the foot before barricading himself inside.
Thankfully, HPD officers were able to convince him to give himself up before anyone else was injured. He was arrested at around 10:20 a.m.
