An argument over food led to a fatal stabbing at a home in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The incident took place at a residence in the 1600 block of West Alabama just after 2 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found Marks down and bleeding at the scene.
The victim, 71-year-old Sammy Marks, was taken to a local hospital with a significant stab wound near the shoulder area, where he was later pronounced dead.
Sandra Marie Rios, 53, was taken into custody by the Houston Police Department and charged with murder.
Additional officers found Rios walking after she left the residence.
Witnesses reported that Rios and Marks had an ongoing dating relationship and Rios did not live at the residence full-time.
Investigators learned that the argument started over Rios being too loud while making food.
Officers were familiar with the location due to previous disturbance calls related to family-type disturbances. Court records obtained by KPRC 2 revealed that Rios was out on bond for an assault charge against Marks that happened back in January. Rios was not supposed to be at the victims home based on her bond conditions.
