Fight turns into deadly shooting in SW Houston, gunman on the run

HOUSTON – Authorities are trying to figure out how a fight in southwest Houston escalated into a deadly shooting late Sunday night.

Based on preliminary details from Lt. JP Horelica with HPD, initial reports were two men were fighting in a parking lot on Dumfries Drive near Fondren Road where another man tried to intervene and separate them.

At some point, Lt. Horelica said one of the fighting men took out a gun and shot the other. He and the man who tried intervening then took off before police arrived. When officers got there, Lt. Horelica said the man died from his injuries.

They’re not sure where the shooter took off but police are asking anyone with information to call police or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
