Security guard shot during robbery at former church turned game room in SE Houston

HOUSTON – A former church in southeast Houston that has since been converted into a game room, was robbed Tuesday night.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. at Garland Drive off Griggs Road and the Gulf Freeway.

The Houston Police Department said three masked gunmen made their way into the game room, where a security guard tried fighting them off, but was shot in the arm.

The guard, a patron, and a pregnant worker were then held at gunpoint while the robbers used dollies to load up the gaming machines and took off in a white moving truck.

Investigators are asking anyone with information on who those masked gunmen are to call HPD or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
