It happened around 9:40 p.m. when police got a call for a shooting on Cullen Boulevard and South Loop East off 610. At least one unidentified man in his mid-20s or early 30s was found with a serious gunshot wound and rushed to a hospital, where investigators said he died from his injuries.
While police were heading to the scene, there were additional reports of at least three or four other people shot. However, no one else was found at the scene.
It’s unclear how everything unfolded, but HPD Lt. Ali said there was a large group of people hanging out at the Shell gas station parking lot when some “disturbance” broke out. She didn’t go into detail what that meant, but people started running and the group dispersed shortly before when officials got the call for the shooting.
