“The strong turnout in this election is a sign of the health of our republic and the strength of our democratic institutions,” the statement from Bush read.
Bush served two terms in office from 2001 until 2009. His younger brother, Jeb, ran against Trump in 2016, dropping out during the Republican primaries.
