Woman followed into apartment complex, shot during attempted robbery in Southeast Houston

HOUSTON – A woman was shot in the face during an attempted robbery in Southeast Houston, police said.

Investigators said the woman returned from work to her apartment complex on the Gulf Freeway near Maxwell Lane at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

They said a man followed her into the parking lot.

“That suspect demanded money from her. During that exchange, the suspect fired a round, striking her in the face,” said HPD Lt. Riley.

Police said the victim ran to her apartment and called 911.

She was rushed to the hospital in stable condition.

The shooter fled the scene, and no description had been released.

It was unclear if he took money or belongings from the victim.
