Woman dies after being hit by vehicle on SH-249 in NW Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle while she was walking on SH-249 in northwest Harris County.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said it happened at 14050 SH-249, near Bammel N. Houston Road around 7:30 p.m.
The sheriff’s office said the woman was walking on the road when a vehicle driving northbound struck the woman in a lane of traffic.
The driver stopped and remained at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication. There are no charges against the driver at this time.
The woman was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities say it appears the woman was at fault as there was a nearby crosswalk that the woman did not use.
