The Texas Department of Transportation and the Galveston County Navigation District No. 1 have scheduled the first phase of permanent repairs to the Pelican Island Bridge, following a barge incident last month. Crews will start work on Saturday, June 15, with the repairs expected to be completed by Monday, June 17.
Repairs are necessary to improve the bridge’s condition after it was struck by a barge last month. Initial repairs were performed temporarily to minimize disruptions for businesses and residents on Pelican Island.
To ensure the longevity of the bridge, further repairs will be scheduled.
