7-year-old hospitalized after gaining access to handgun, shooting himself in N. Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A 7-year-old boy has been taken to Texas Children’s Hospital in The Woodlands after authorities said he gained access to a handgun and shot himself.
The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office said it happened in the 21200 block of Shadow River Lane in north Harris County.
The constable’s office has since said the boy was shot in the foot and is currently undergoing a medical procedure. He is expected to make a full recovery.
The investigation continues and criminal charges are possible, according to the constable’s office.
