With the solar eclipse set to occur on April 8, people from all over the country are eagerly preparing to witness this celestial event. However, the presence of the National Guard in Texas has raised some eyebrows and sparked curiosity among the public.

According to a TikTok user @ToddGross, the National Guard has been called to Texas to ensure the safety and security of the public during the solar eclipse.

In his video, Gross explains that the large influx of visitors expected in Texas has prompted the need for additional support from the National Guard.

“The total eclipse path is only 70 miles wide. And three types of folks are flooding into that 70-mile wide path,” Gross explained. “Those from overseas that know how great a total eclipse is and they’re going to be coming on it. Those that are eclipse chasers in the United States that have seen one before, and know how great a total eclipse is, and they’ll be flooding in. And those that live near the path that are hearing about it and need to get in the path to see the total eclipse.”

The TikTok user further explains that the National Guard will be responsible for managing crowd control, traffic flow, and ensuring that everyone follows safety protocols during the solar eclipse. Their presence is aimed at preventing any potential chaos or safety hazards that could arise from the massive gathering of people.

Additionally, he explained why some people are telling Texans to stock up on two weeks’ worth of supplies ahead of the eclipse.

He says that this event is sort of like having a snowstorm where the traffic becomes dense and people, Texans and tourists alike, gather food and supplies.

People should be stocked up on gas, medicine, and groceries before the total eclipse.

Abbott’s office said they would get back to us with a statement regarding the decision.

While some may question the need for such measures, it is important to remember that large-scale events often require additional security measures to ensure the well-being of the attendees. The National Guard’s involvement in the solar eclipse preparations in Texas is a proactive step towards ensuring a successful and incident-free event.
