Police searching for suspect after 1 killed, 1 injured in shooting outside SW Houston hookah bar

HOUSTON – Police are searching for a suspect in connection to a shooting that left one woman dead and injured a man outside of a southwest Houston hookah bar on Sunday, according to the Houston Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the 11200 block of Southwest Freeway at approximately 1:20 a.m. regarding a shooting.

Police said two groups of people got into a fight at a hookah bar, so they were taken out of the business.

The groups then went outside, and one man pulled out a gun and fired several shots.

A man in the other group was shot, and a woman, who was a bystander, was also struck.

The woman died at the scene.

“It’s very unfortunate that she was an innocent bystander, has nothing to do with the fighting that was inside, has nothing to do with the fighting outside. She was just trying to get a sober ride home, and unfortunately, she was caught in the crossfire,” HPD Detective Michael Castillo said.

The man, who was shot, was taken to a local hospital.

He had surgery and is expected to be OK. Police have not released the victims’ identities.

One suspect ran from the scene, and police are looking for him.

Authorities do not have a description of the suspects, and this case is under investigation.
