Family tracks woman’s phone after she disappeared, finds her dead in south Houston

HOUSTON – A woman was found dead in south Houston on Friday, after she disappeared for some hours, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police were called to the scene in the 4800 block of Briscoe Street at about 7 p.m. once the family found the woman, who has not been identified.

The victim was in her mid 40s and lived at home with her family in the Willowbrook area. She left home at about 1 a.m. to go get some snacks from a convenience store, and she never returned home.

Her family then tried to track her phone and were not able to find her until later in the day.

They then tracked her down to Briscoe Street. She was found inside her car.

Police said she suffered blunt trauma and was shot once. They are investigating this as a homicide.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences will assist with the investigation.
