HPD addresses crime prevention in annual March on Crime Campaign

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department had a news conference on Monday to discuss crime prevention during the 40th annual March on Crime Campaign.

Several law enforcement agencies were present, including the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

At the conference, HPD Chief Troy Finner mentioned how police will tackle crime in March and how they will partner with other agencies.

The March on Crime initiative was started in 1984 because crime was growing in Houston.

The campaign has been held every year to educate the public on the following issues:

  • Crime prevention
  • Drug Awareness
  • Crime Stoppers
  • Neighborhood Watch
  • Personal safety
  • Burglary prevention
  • Crimes against the elderly
  • Juvenile crime
