City to lower Lake Houston’s water level by 12 inches in preparation of upcoming rainfall

HOUSTON – The City of Houston announced Friday that Houston Public Works will lower the water level at Lake Houston by 12 inches in preparation for upcoming rains.

The City said lowering will begin during the early morning hours on Saturday.

It will take a total of 24 hours to lower the lake level by 12 inches.

“The lake level will be reduced to an elevation of 41.5 feet, weather permitting,” the city said.

Property owners are asked to secure property on the shoreline.
