Police received a distress call, stating that a person had been run over by a big piece of machinery.

At the scene, investigators learned the woman was walking her dog, and crossing the street when the driver “skid steer” hit her.

Police said a witness confronted the driver and the worker parked the piece of machinery, and then got into his vehicle and took off. The driver was later pulled over and taken into custody on Interstate 45 and Main Street.

The woman was subsequently taken to the Memorial Herman Hospital with serious bodily injuries. Police said her dog had tragically died.

HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating along with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, who will determine what charges will be filed.
