Children’s Museum of Houston to put on beautiful performances for Black History Month

February is Black History Month, and the Children’s Museum of Houston is excited to invite the community to different events they will be hosting. (CM Houston)

HOUSTON – February is Black History Month, and the Children’s Museum of Houston is excited to invite the community to different events they will be hosting.

CM Houston has free family nights every Thursday from 5-8 p.m.

The events below are part of museum’s free family nights.

Feb 1. Br’er Rabbit by the Ensemble Theatre

The Ensemble Theatre will perform Br’er Rabbit, which is a part of African American folklore. Its theme is “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Feb 8. Joy of Djembre Drumming

Little ones will be able to enjoy music and drumming during this interactive experience.

“(Musicians) come and they do a beautiful performance, and then they allow the children to have an instrument petting experience like you would do at the petting zoo,” said Lisa Williams, the CM Houston Director of Gallery Programs.

Feb. 15 Pan-African Passport

There will be colorful drumming and dance performances by the Kucheza Ngoma Dance Company.

The museum said they enjoying creating events that are culturally rich, and they encourage children up to 12 years old to visit them during Black History Month.
