Man stabbed in shoulder at party near Midtown Houston; victim tried to shoot attacker as he fled

HOUSTON – A man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed during a party near Midtown early Sunday.

It happened in the 4400 block of Greeley Street at about 12:47 a.m.

Police said the stabbing happened at a property that was being used as an Airbnb. Guests were at the property watching a football game.

A neighbor was invited to join the party and watch the game. Police said during the game, the guests and the neighbor exchanged words in a friendly manner.

After the game, the neighbor left, but later returned with a large knife and attacked one of the guests for an unknown reason.

The attacked guest was stabbed in the shoulder. Following the stabbing, police said the guest went to his vehicle, retrieved a gun, and attempted to shoot the suspect as he fled.

The suspect was described as a man in his late twenties to early thirties and was wearing all black.

He fled on foot, but police said he is not considered a threat to the public.

The stabbed guest was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown.

Airbnb released a statement following the incident:

“We are in touch with local neighbors to provide our support, and we have deactivated listings at this home as we investigate.”
