Security guard injured following shootout in east downtown Houston

HOUSTON – An apartment complex security guard was injured on Saturday after getting into a shootout with a suspect in east downtown Houston, the Houston Police Department said.

Officers responded to the scene in the 1900 block of Hussion Street around 1:29 a.m.

When they arrived, they learned a person got into an argument with the security guard, then they got into a shootout.

The security officer was injured and taken to the hospital. He had surgery due to the incident.

Police are still searching for the suspect. They did not share a description of the suspect or identify those involved.

This case is under investigation.
