‘Very perplexing crime scene’: Bodies found in car believed to be missing San Antonio pregnant teen and boyfriend

SAN ANTONIO – A pregnant teen and her boyfriend were reportedly found dead in a vehicle near a San Antonio apartment complex.

Family members told KPRC 2′s sister station KSAT that the woman found in the vehicle is 18-year-old Savanah Soto.

“We were supposed to celebrate Christmas with her and the baby. All she wanted was that baby. I think she was meant to be a mom,” said Joanie Wasil, Soto’s sister-in-law.

The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a CLEAR Alert for Soto on Monday.

She was found along with Mathew Guerra, who is believed to be her boyfriend, in what is believed to be his car. They were found in the 5900 block of Danny Kaye about three miles from her apartment.

According to Leon Valley police, Soto’s parents informed them that she was scheduled to induce labor on Saturday but failed to appear at the hospital.

During a press conference, San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus stated that investigators presume the bodies belong to Soto and her boyfriend. However, he emphasized that confirmation would only be provided once the medical examiner completes an examination.

“It’s a very perplexing crime scene,” McManus said. “Detectives (are) looking at it as a possible murder but we don’t know for sure... It’s a complex scene.”

McManus said that it is suspected the bodies have been in the vehicle for three to four days.

Soto is the second child Gloria Cordova lost in the past year.

Soto’s younger brother was killed, and the family got into a courtroom brawl. They beat his suspected killer in the middle of a Bexar County courtroom in October.
