Suspected drunken driver crashes into fire truck in north Houston

A suspected drunken driver crashed into a Houston Fire Department fire truck that was responding to an emergency on Saturday in north Houston, the Houston Police Department said. (kprc)

HOUSTON – A suspected drunken driver crashed into a Houston Fire Department fire truck that was responding to an emergency on Saturday in north Houston, the Houston Police Department said.

Officers were dispatched to the scene in the 600 block of West Crosstimbers Street around 11:54 p.m.

The fire truck had its lights and sirens on. Authorities said an SUV crashed into the fire truck because it failed to yield the right of way.

After the crash, officials removed the woman from the SUV and suspected she might be driving drunk. They then examined her and confirmed this.

She was taken to a local hospital to be treated and will be arrested after she is released. Police did not say if any firefighters were injured, and the woman’s name was not released.

This crash is under investigation.
