The TPC plant manufactures products made from petrochemical raw materials that can be used for synthetic rubber, fuels, and more.

There may be intermittent flaring at the plant. Employees and the community are not at risk.

“Our operations personnel are onsite working to safely mitigate the issue. We do not expect any impact on our employees, industrial or community neighbors,” the company said.

At 1:40 p.m., the company said power to the plant had been fully restored and equipment was being restarted to prevent any further flaring.

“Neighbors may hear noise due to steam venting as we begin to restart units. Air monitoring has continued throughout the day as an added measure to validate there is no off-site impact. There continues to be no impact that requires action by the community. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” the company said.

Around 4 p.m. Saturday, TPC Group Houston Operations said there was still ongoing flaring, but personnel were working on reducing it.
